PTE UKVI Score Requirements

The score you need depends on the level of study:

  • Degree level (CEFR B2) – Equivalent to IELTS 5.5 in all skills.
  • Below degree level (CEFR B1) – Equivalent to IELTS 4.0 in all skills.

Your sponsoring university must confirm your English level on your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), either through your PTE Academic UKVI results or by confirming your exemption.

Booking Your Test.

To ensure your result is valid for a UK Student Visa, you must book the PTE Academic UKVI version only (not standard PTE Academic).

  • Register via the official PTE Academic UKVI booking portal.
  • Choose a UKVI-approved centre from the test centre list.
  • Carry your valid passport on test day.

Exemptions from PTE

You may not need to sit the PTE Academic UKVI if:
